Banana Split 60"x52"

$4,500.00

2024

60"x52" acrylic/mixed media on thick canvas

At a painting residency with 10 other painters, this work was created in a round robin exercise where each of the painters rotated around the studio each placing marks in manner of our own choosing. When we returned to our own original canvases, we were left to somehow create a work out of others’ marks and colors. My canvas was totally wet and I was inspired to take vanilla and caramel colored paint over the marks left behind. In the process, the new paint blended togehter with the colors I was given. My process was completed in one intuitive celebration of color and composition. When I finally stepped back, the delicous colors melting together, Banana Split seemed to be the perfect title for this delicious composition of colors and melting textures.
